San Diego reopened the historic Botanical Building in Balboa Park after a major restoration.
The project renewed a landmark structure while preserving the visual character that made it one of the park's most recognizable spaces. Rehabilitation also had to support contemporary safety, accessibility and horticultural needs.
Reopening for December Nights returned the building to a large public audience. Long-term care would determine whether the restoration endured beyond the celebration.
