San Diego released a new vision for the northeast corner of Mission Bay Park, advancing planning for De Anza Cove and the surrounding public land.
The area carries competing demands: shoreline recreation, visitor accommodations, athletic uses, habitat restoration and access for nearby communities. A revised plan had to show how those uses could fit within finite waterfront acreage.
The proposal did not end the discussion. It gave the public and decision-makers a more concrete basis for weighing how much of northeast Mission Bay should remain developed and how much should return to natural habitat.
