The San Diego Regional Cyber Lab launched, turning an earlier grant-backed concept into an operating center for local cybersecurity training and collaboration.
The lab offered organizations a place to test defenses, practice incident response and improve workforce skills outside their production networks. Its regional model was especially relevant to smaller agencies and businesses with limited security staff.
Opening the facility was only a first measure. Lasting value would come from participation, repeated exercises and evidence that institutions were better prepared when real attacks occurred.
