San Diego FC opened its first Major League Soccer season with a 2-0 road victory over the defending champion LA Galaxy.
Anders Dreyer scored both goals, breaking through late in the second half and adding another in stoppage time. The result gave the new club three points before its first home match at Snapdragon Stadium.
The debut transformed two years of planning, branding and roster building into a competitive statement and began a new chapter for professional soccer in San Diego.
