Eight tournaments, seven road or neutral-site stops and two routes toward the NCAA individual championships define San Diego State men's tennis this fall. Coach Gene Carswell released the schedule Friday, setting an opening date of Sept. 11 in Tucson and a finish at the Aztec Tennis Center in early December.
The season begins at Arizona's Kinlen and Vivian Gee Wildcat Invite from Sept. 11 through Sept. 13. SDSU then returns to San Diego for the Challenger at Barnes Tennis Center beginning Sept. 21. That event is local, but the Aztecs will not host their own tournament until the final stop.
After a break, selected players travel to the UC Santa Barbara Fall Invite from Oct. 9 through Oct. 11. The ITA Southwest Regional starts Oct. 15 in Malibu. Results there can lead into the NCAA individual championships, giving the regional a consequence beyond its own bracket and offering the first of the fall's two stated qualifying paths.
The second route is new to SDSU's calendar. Gonzaga will host the inaugural Pac-12 Fall Qualifier from Oct. 23 through Oct. 25 in Spokane. The school identified the tournament as another pathway to the NCAA singles and doubles fields. That places selection pressure in consecutive weekends, first in Malibu and then in Washington.
Competition continues at the Dennis Rizza Hidden Duals from Oct. 30 through Nov. 1 in Palos Verdes, followed by the USTA Southern California Intercollegiate Championships at San Diego's Hogan Tennis Center beginning Nov. 6. Hidden-dual formats generally record individual results without a conventional team score; SDSU's release lists the event but does not specify opponents or draws.
The Aztecs close with the San Diego Futures from Nov. 30 through Dec. 6 at the Aztec Tennis Center. It is the only tournament on the schedule staged at SDSU's home facility. By then, the team will have moved through invitational, regional, conference-qualifier and open-event formats, a sequence built to give individuals repeated match play before the dual season.
Four players return: Brock Anderson, William Kleege, Aleksi Lofman and Finn Willman. The roster also includes Tennessee transfers Jan Kobierski and Piotr Siekanowicz, Baylor transfer Blake Anderson, and freshmen Maxime Baur and Dinko Dinev. With five newcomers among nine listed players, the fall is also a lineup evaluation period. SDSU finished the 2025-26 dual season 12-12 overall and 5-2 in Mountain West matches before Boise State stopped the Aztecs in the conference semifinal on April 23.
Tournament schedules do not lock in who plays each draw, and Friday's announcement did not publish travel squads or seeding. Those choices can depend on entries, health and results from the preceding weekend. The release therefore establishes where the Aztecs intend to compete, not a fixed match count for every player.
The calendar gives Carswell several kinds of evidence before dual matches begin: how transfers fit alongside returners, which doubles combinations hold up and who advances under qualifying pressure. The only home tournament comes last. Most of the decisions that shape it will be made on the road.
