A San Diego Public Library gallery exhibition presented work by cross-border artists, highlighting creative exchange across the San Diego-Tijuana region.
Showing the work in a civic space lowered barriers to entry and placed contemporary art within an institution used daily for learning, services and community gatherings.
The exhibition also treated the border as a place of cultural production rather than only a line of separation. Artists supplied a shared language for experiences that are local on both sides.
