City leaders welcomed residents to Fairbrook Neighborhood Park, opening a new recreation space in Scripps Ranch.
Neighborhood parks provide the everyday layer of a city recreation system: play, exercise, gathering and unstructured time within walking distance of homes. Their value depends as much on maintenance and access as on opening-day amenities.
Fairbrook converted a planned capital project into usable community space. It also added public ground in an area where housing growth had increased demand for nearby recreation.
