San Diego opened Island Avenue Mini Park, adding a small but accessible public space to the Grant Hill area.

Mini parks can fit where a full recreation complex cannot. Seating, landscaping and play space on a modest parcel can give nearby residents a place to gather without driving to a regional destination.

The project illustrated how neighborhood infrastructure is often measured at a human scale. A limited footprint can still change daily life when it fills a local gap in shade, play and community space.
