Eight event wins carried San Diego State past USD 79-64 on Friday and extended an unbeaten dual-meet run that has lasted since January 2018. The Aztecs took the top two places in five scheduled events, using that depth to control a distance-format meet at the Aztec Aquaplex even when an individual result did not determine the entire score.
Alli Mann supplied the fastest repeated impact. She won the 150-yard freestyle in 1 minute, 21.20 seconds and the 150 butterfly in 1:28.75, then joined both victorious relays. Mann, Liv Peebles, Gabriella Branca and Alexia Bispo opened the meet by taking the 200 medley relay in 1:44.73. SDSU's B quartet followed in 1:47.23, immediately putting two Aztec groups at the front.
The individual wins spread across strokes. Peebles took the 150 backstroke in 1:31.30. Branca won the 150 breaststroke in 1:43.69. Melanie Quinto posted 3:17.24 in the 300 individual medley, while Bispo completed the 400 freestyle in 4:01.00. The meet listing treated the latter performances as exhibitions, so their value was evaluative rather than an additional swing in the team total.
SDSU closed the competitive sequence with another relay win. Mann, Bispo, Branca and Quinto touched in 1:37.09 in the 200 freestyle relay. Relays compress several decisions into one result: the order, the exchanges and the balance between early speed and a reliable anchor. Mann's place on both winning groups matched the range she had already shown in the two 150-yard victories.
The 87-meet streak is a measure of repeated head-to-head execution, not a national championship table. Dual formats vary, schedules differ and exhibition swims can change how a score looks beside the raw times. Still, avoiding a dual loss for more than eight years requires lineups that can absorb graduation, injuries and changes in event order. Friday added one more result without disguising the meet's unusual distances.
A distance meet also changes the strain inside each stroke. The 150-yard races ask swimmers to preserve technique beyond a standard 100 without extending to the usual 200, and the 300 medley adds one more length to each stroke segment than a 200. That makes direct comparison with championship events imperfect. It also gives coaches a controlled look at pacing before the schedule expands into larger invitationals and conventional distances.
The same San Diego programs had opened their seasons with a pentathlon on Sept. 18, when SDSU won 10 of 11 races and Quinto produced the fastest five-event total. Friday's format narrowed the strokes into longer 150-yard races and put more weight on relay construction. Mann emerged as the clearest individual scorer, while the top-two finishes supplied the margin behind her.
San Diego State next travels to Pepperdine on Oct. 15 and then the Fresno State Invitational on Oct. 16 and 17. Those meets will change the field and the scoring pressure. For now, the official timing record shows eight wins, four relay contributions from Mann and another dual victory. The streak survives because SDSU kept placing a second swimmer close behind its first.
