No opponent goes unvisited on the inaugural Pac-12 women's basketball calendar released for San Diego State. The 16-game true round robin sends the Aztecs through home-and-away series with eight opponents from Jan. 6 through March 6 before a five-day conference tournament in Las Vegas.
The opening week stays at Viejas Arena. SDSU hosts Utah State on Jan. 6, carrying a nine-game winning streak in that series, then Boise State on Jan. 10 after winning the past five meetings. The road begins Jan. 13 at Oregon State, the programs' first meeting since 1998, and continues Jan. 16 at Colorado State. Those four games put two familiar opponents beside a Pac-12 holdover in rapid succession.
Gonzaga visits Jan. 21 for its first game against SDSU since 1995. Three days later, the Aztecs make their first trip to Texas State. The teams have played only once, a 68-65 Bobcats win at a neutral site in 1996. Colorado State arrives Jan. 31 after SDSU's first bye, completing one home-and-away pairing before the calendar reaches February.
The middle stretch is travel-heavy. San Diego State plays at Washington State on Feb. 3 and at Gonzaga on Feb. 6, then returns home for Fresno State on Feb. 10. A Feb. 14 trip to Boise State follows. Oregon State and Washington State come to Viejas Arena on Feb. 17 and Feb. 21, the first local visits by those programs since 1997 and 2010, respectively.
Road games at Utah State on Feb. 24 and Fresno State on Feb. 27 close the travel portion. Texas State visits March 6 for the regular-season finale. The Pac-12 tournament runs March 9 through March 13 at MGM Grand Garden Arena alongside the men's event. Tip times and broadcast assignments remain pending, so the release fixes dates and locations without yet defining every travel turnaround.
Eight league games will be played at home and eight on the road. The calendar places the longest same-direction swing in early February, when Washington State and Gonzaga create two Inland Northwest stops three days apart. Later, SDSU gets four of six games at Viejas Arena from Feb. 10 through Feb. 21. That balance does not eliminate travel fatigue, but it keeps every opponent subject to the same return visit.
The structure removes the scheduling imbalance that comes with a larger league. Every team gets the same two-game comparison, one in each building. It also creates clean rematches: coaches can measure what changed between January and February without wondering why another contender received only one difficult road assignment. The price is repetition and a compact 16-game path with few opportunities to avoid a bad matchup.
SDSU enters the transition with seven returning players, including four starters, from a team that won the Mountain West regular-season championship and tied a program record with 27 victories. Those accomplishments establish continuity, not a forecast against the new field. Oregon State reached the WBIT last season, while Gonzaga has made five of the past six NCAA tournaments. The first Pac-12 schedule now supplies the route; results will determine how much of the previous standard travels with it.
